Who knew that Mark Wahlberg and a CGI debauchery fueled foul mouthed Teddy Bear would make for one of the funniest movies in the last 10 years. I think we all expected crap from Seth McFarlane’s directorial debut in Ted, but it was ripe with wit, sophomoric charm, and boisterous laughter. It did run a little long and had a completely unnecessary side storyline with Giovanni Ribisi, but the ever good looking Mila Kunis and a special guest appearance from the Defender of the Earth Flash Gordon (Sam Jones) rounded out the raunchy film.
Seth MacFarlane‘s Ted 2 hits theaters June 26 with the writer/director reprising his performance capture role as the potty mouth, partying teddy bear alongside his “Thunder Buddy” John, played by Mark Wahlberg. The trailer for the sequel has just dropped, and it looks more of the same, which in some cases isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
I do hate these sort of trailers that reveal so many key scenes and gags, I feel like I’ve just seen the whole film! And, I love dumb, raunchy comedy gags as much as the next guy, but that semen-slipping bit was rather stupid. Oh, and where is Mila Kunis? The thrust of the original’s narrative was Wahlberg’s desire to stay with her, so it would a shame to make it all for nothing.
This does feel like a wash/rinse/repeat kind of sequel. But I laughed uproariously at the first one so I’ll probably dig this one too. If anything, this 2.5 minute trailer was already better than all of Million Ways to Die in The West.
