Crimson Peak has a lot going for it. Guillermo Del Toro directing along with Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam, and Mia Wasikowska in the cast. We all know Del Toro can handle horror and now we’re getting a good look at how he handles Gothic Horror. You know, horror with Victorian high-necked-lacy fashion, prudish sensibilities about sex, and lots of spooky, creepy, ghostly looking things that creep into their bed chambers at night. So check out the trailer and see if Del Toro can scare the pants off you in a non-sexual way using very sexualized imagery.
Here’s the official synopsis:
In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.
Here’s what Del Toro had to say about Crimson Peak:
It’s the first adult movie I do in English. You know, because even with the R rating, I can hardly call “Blade” an adult film. It’s the first time I’ve tried to marry the “Pan’s Labyrinth” and “Devil’s Backbone” sensibilities with a larger cast and larger budget.

The movie theater poster:
What do you think? Will this fill theater seats? On star power alone I would have to say the film should do well, combine that with Del Toro’s own fan club of movie goers and Crimson Peak should do quite well at the box office when it opens October 16th, just in time for the Halloween theater box office period.
