Production on Wham! will begin soon, and by Wham! we mean Deadpool. (If you don’t understand the reference, we refer you to this article.) While the leading man of the film has been confirmed for some time, Ryan Ryenolds, the rest of the cast, not to mention the parts that they’re going to play, remains a question mark. Well, sort of. A new casting call reveals, if not the actual identities of the characters then what types of actors they are looking to play them. So who will be joining Deadpool in what’s sure to be a bloody and violent (rating pending) big screen adventure full of meta-commentary and other laughs?

Courtesy of Casting 247 (via Comic Book.com), here’s the run down of roles wanted/needed by Deadpool.

[RIDGE] Any ethnicity, early 30s to early 50s. Big, muscular, dangerous, violent, vain, insecure and more than a bit of a dick…. but with a sense of humor. He is not a psychopath, he’s practical but morally neutral—he doesn’t enjoy torturing people, he just doesn’t care. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.

[LINDSAY] Any ethnicity, 20s, attractive and worldly. Smart, tough, beautiful but a little bit broken. Nothing has ever been easy for her and she’s developed a thick skin and cynical outlook. But she’s not a victim—she may not have a great life but she’s holding it together and does what she needs to get by. She’s got a great sense of humor but it leans heavily towards irony and sarcasm. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.

[SIMON] Any ethnicity, late 20s to early 40s. Quirky, great sense of humor. Smart, funny, but more than a little bit slippery. Fast talker, always looking to make a buck. He looks out for himself first and foremost, but reveals loyalty at the end of the day. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.

[SHIRLIE] African American, late 60s to early 80s. Worldly, great sense of comedic timing, sarcastic, dry, funny. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS.

[KATHY] Any ethnicity, early to mid teens. World weary, great sense of comedic timing, sarcastic, droll sense of humor. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS.

[KEREN] Any ethnicity, early 20s to late 30s. Serious, big, tough. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS

[ALBERT] Any ethnicity, early 30s to early 50s. Big, muscular, dangerous. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS

Well, if there’s one thing that all these roles have in common it’s that the people playing them will have to be available for at least two more movies.

This casting announcement follows up on the recent news from The Hollywood Reporter (via Coming Soon) that former MMA star Gina Carano is joining the cast as Angel Dust, a mutant that can control her adrenaline to give herself greater strength, speed and stamina. Carano has since graduated to actress with roles in action movies like Haywire and Furious 6, but her role in Deadpool is not the lead character referred to the other day as being auditioned for by six various actresses.

The interesting mention here is Angel Dust, who was introduced in the 2002 miniseries Morlocks, based on the group of mutants that live in the tunnels under New York City, mostly owing to their outward hideousness. Does that mean that Deadpool will introduce the Morlocks for the first time on film? It’s an intriguing bit of X-Men lore that’s never been explored on screen, like the Sentinels who weren’t integrated into the movie universe until the recently released Days of Future Past. I guess we’ll see.

Deadpool will be in theaters everywhere on February 12, 2016.
