With Marvel Studios getting all the attention these days (you heard Spidey is coming back to Marvel, right?) We haven’t heard much from the DC camp. Sure, hearing about the casting announcements and rotations on the upcoming Suicide Squad movie (which is gonna a be nuts!) makes for a good proverbial snack, DC/Warner Bros. need to give something more. Well more they have given!
How about our first look at Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman from Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice? That ought to do, right?
Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder just dropped this first image of Jason Momoa as DC’s Aquaman via Twitter.

And here’s a bigger version of the image.
Not sure what fans were expecting with costume design, but this is defiantly well beyond any resemblance to the character sans the Trident. No blonde hair. No orange scaled shirt or green tight pants (or giant Seahorse). Instead, there is a whole lot of tattoos, some scaly gauntlets/armor, long grisly hair, and a mean looker mother fucker underneath it all. And that’s all OK.
I, for one, am glad to see Aquaman (whose ethnicity is not a fundamental part of his character, IMO) being played by Momoa. Pacific Islander/Maori style warrior makes more sense than Caucasian anyways.
So what’s “Unite the Seven?” Well, it likely refers to the Seven Seas, considering Snyder’s tweet says “There is only one true king.” And Aquaman is the king of the sea. Whether or not that refers to something that happens just in the Aquaman movie, Batman v Superman or maybe even Justice League, we’ll have to wait and see.
What do you think of Momoa’s Aquaman – pretty dope, right?
