The announcement that 20th Century Fox was willing to bet on the fan excitement over Neill Blomkamp‘s Alien art project came as kind of a shocking. Welcoming news for sure, but kind of surprising. At this point though, any tangible news about Blomkamp’s Alien counts only as idle speculation, but that’s not to say that we shouldn’t expect people to start coming out of the woodwork to lay their claim to a piece of it. Enter Louis CK. That Louis CK? Yes, the comedian, through a very trusted source, has let the world know that not only is he interested in appearing in the new Alien movie, but he has a very specific role in mind for himself.
How do Louis CK and Alien intersect? Through Sigourney Weaver, the star of Alien franchise and the presumptive star of Blomkamp’s upcoming film as the concept art for which prominently featured her character Ripley.
Weaver met Lousi CK the other night, and relayed the story while promoting her upcoming film Chappie on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Fallon asked Weaver about the rumors of her working with Chappie director Blomkamp again on his Alien movie, and according to Weaver, Louis CK had asked about it too. Weaver said that Louis told her that “I want to be in it, and I want to die in a terrible way.” Honestly, is there any other way to die in an Alien movie?
Weaver’s response. “I’m sure something can be arranged,” she said to the laughs of the studio audience. Check out the relevant segment of The Tonight Show below:
Expect to get more bits and pieces of Alien news as promotion for Chappie goes on. Both Weaver and Blomkamp are probably going to be asked about it a lot in the next couple of weeks.
