Star Wars: Rebels first season wraps up on Monday with a very special guest star. Throughout this past season we’ve already welcomed great Star Wars luminaries like Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Frank Oz (Yoda), but this is huge. Everyone bow before the Dark Lord of the Sith because he’s arriving in animated form in the season finale of the Disney XD series. Considering that Rebels is set between the two trilogies, and since it was really only a matter of time before Kanan and the crew of the Ghost got too big to be merely a concern for some imperial goons and the creepy Inquisitor, it looks like the Emperor is sending in the big guns.
If you haven’t been keeping up with the show, which was named one of Nerd Bastards Top 10 Nerdy Shows of 2014, it’s seen things heat up considerably with the titular rebels as they’ve sent out the word for people to rise up against the Empire, and then lost their captain Kanan who got captured by none other than Grand Moff Tarkin. So where do they go from here?
Below is the preview for the March 2 episode of Rebels which features the climactic showdown between Kanan and the Inquisitor, but in order to glimpse a hint of Vader you will have to wait until the very end, of course. Let’s roll the clip!
Of course, shrewd Wars fans will note that this isn’t the first time that Vader appeared on Rebels, and voiced by James Earl Jones no less. If you saw the ABC airing of the Rebels pilot, “Spark of Rebellion,” then you might have seen the following clip:
Is just me, or does Darth Vader look scarier, and angrier in animated form?
Star Wars Rebels‘ season finale will air Monday March 2 at 9 pm on Disney XD.
