We knew it had to happen sooner or later. Disney has a history of putting things back in the Disney vault only to take them out, dust them off, and bring them back to a new generation of children. This time around it is one of the best late 80’s cartoons, DuckTales. Scrooge McDuck and the gang are back to make another couple of truckloads of money for Disney stockholders. The good news is that this won’t just be a re-release of the cartoon series, but a season of new DuckTales adventures.
Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President of Programming and Disney XD General Manager said:
DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.
We should be seeing the first new DuckTales episode sometime in 2017. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Alan Young back to voice Scrooge McDuck. He may be 98 when the new show hits television screens, but he’s still doing voice work today.
What DuckTales character are you most looking forward to seeing on-screen again?
Now I don’t Disney would do it, but wouldn’t it be grand if they used the Saturday Morning Slow Jam version of the theme song?
