While Hugh Jackman does the Publicity Shuffle for Neill Blomkamp‘s new movie Chappie, It’s a given that he’ll also field some questions about Wolverine, the X-Men, and other superhero related movie news. This time around Yahoo! Movies and MTV News hit Jackman with some questions about the possibilities of Wolverine and Deadpool sharing some big screen time and if he thinks we’ll ever get an X-Men/Avengers Crossover movie.Deadpool-Review-Screenshots-3

First up is Jackman’s thoughts on Wolverine and Deadpool mixing it up again. Jackman has talked about his disappointment in how X-Men Origins: Wolverine turned out:

We could have done better. Somehow the first Wolverine movie ended up looking like the fourth X-Men , just with different characters. I left unsure if we’d achieved our goal, which was to make sure people understood my character.

I wasn’t even sure after [ X-Men Origins: Wolverine ] if I would do another,” muses the star. “I won’t say never, because I’m still loving it. But there would have to be a pretty compelling reason.

XO:W certainly didn’t do Deadpool’s character any good either, luckily it looks like Ryan Reynolds is getting a do-over with the Tim Miller‘s Deadpool coming out next February 12th 2016.

Does Jackman think we’ll ever see Wolverine and Deadpool together again on the big screen?

Jackman was also asked about the possibilities of seeing the X-Men and the Avengers get together in the wake of the big Spider-man deal Sony and Marvel worked out, could FOX and Marvel work out a deal that puts Jackman and Robert Downey Jr. in the same super hero movie?

Two years ago I’d have said you’d be a real optimist to think it’d ever happen, but weirdly now I just think it maybe could. I think there is the possibility that it will happen.

What do you think? It wouldn’t be hard for FOX to get Wolverine and Deadpool together since they own currently own the big screen rights to both characters. Deadpool starts principal photography this spring and I am sure Jackman could free up a few days for a cameo.

The X-Men/Avengers thing will take a lot more work from both FOX and Marvel. FOX might decide to sit back and see how it plays out the SONY and Marvel before making any decisions about mucking around their character movie rights.
