Melissa Benoist filming "Supergirl"

Just last week we got our first look at Melissa Benoist all super-hero-ed up in the new Supergirl costume. This time around we take a look at Benoist in Supergirl’s alter ego Kara Danvers. That’s right, Kara Danvers is an alter ego. Remember what Bill said about her better known cousin in Kill Bil 2:

Superman didn’t become Superman. Superman was born Superman. When Superman wakes up in the morning, he’s Superman. His alter ego is Clark Kent. His outfit with the big red “S”, that’s the blanket he was wrapped in as a baby when the Kents found him. Those are his clothes. What Kent wears – the glasses, the business suit – that’s the costume.

So let’s take a look at the two Kara Danvers’ costumes Benoist was recently seen wearing on set:

Here’s a gallery for those of you that want a closer look:

What do you think, does she look nerdy/meek enough? I imagine we’ll get a lot of The Devil Wears Prada type scenes between Benoist and Claista Flockhart‘s Cat Grant. Although Kara could just use her Supergirl powers to around the seemingly impossible demands Cat Grant is bound to make.

CBS has already made a series commitment so we should at least get one season on air. The pilot was written by Ali Adler (No Ordinary Family) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow, The Flash). Here’s the synopsis:

Based on the characters from DC Comics, Supergirl will follow Kara Zor-El. Born on the planet Krypton, Kara escaped amid its destruction years ago. And since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

The cast is rounded out by Mehcad Brooks playing Jimmy Olsen, Laura Benanti as Supergirl’s Kryptoian Mother Alura Zor-El, Calista Flockhart as Danvers’ boss Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Kara’s super-scientist sister Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Jeremy Jordan as the future Toyman Winslow “Winn” Schott, David Harewood as Superman Cyborg Hank Henshaw and, in currently unknown and unnamed roles, Dean Cain and Helen Slater. Could Cain be reprising his role as Superman?

Will you be tuning in?
