“You’re a kite dancing in a hurricane, Mr. Bond.” That’s some Mr. Burns level of bloviating from a villain though nowhere near the perfection of “Seems the caterpillar has emerged from its cocoon as a shark, a shark with a gun for a mouth,” but it will do. The line is where things turn in the teaser for Spectre, the upcoming 24th James Bond that re-introduces Bond’s best known worst nemesis to the series. Director Sam Mendes is back to follow up Skyfall, and seemingly Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace too, and Daniel Craig, of course, will also return as 007 himself. For now though, prepare for the spine-tingling tease of the very atmospheric trailer of Spectre.
Did you catch that cameo? That was Jesper Christensen as Mr. White, who was introduced in Royale as a big wig in QUANTUM. It makes it rather the official the rumor that not only is Spectre going to be about SPECTRE, but it’s also going to be a culmination of elements from all the Daniel Craig starring Bond movies so far. That kind of continuity is fairly common for big franchises now, but it’s a first for the Bond series.
The Case: A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
Spectre co-stars Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear, Léa Seydoux, Monica Bellucci, David Bautista and Christoph Waltz. It will hit theaters in North America on November 6.
