FLASH VS. ARROW

It’s coming down to crunch time for both of the CW‘s flagship superhero series, Arrow and The Flash. Both shows are two-thirds over for the season, and major plot points have been revealed as the pieces have started to be arranged for what’s sure to be seminal, cataclysmic season finales. There’s the rub, obviously the shows want to keep their secrets close, but they both shoot outside on the occasionally, but rarely, mean streets of Vancouver, where sharp-eyed shutter bugs can catch site of superhero doings in progress if they’re quick enough, and/or lucky enough. Making the rounds on the internet this morning is what might be a look at the epic fight that will cap The Flash’s first season, and this should go without saying, but spoilers are ahead.

According to a fan site called Grant Gustin News, this is a look at the set of an upcoming episode of The Flash from last night and… Remember what I just said about spoilers? Well get ready to be spoiled in…

SPOILED!

Yes, that is Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), and Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) facing off against Professor Wells AKA: Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh). So it looks like Barry’s going to be calling in the reinforcements when it comes time to take on the Reverse Flash, but does this image tell us more about the DC TV universe than just what’s going on with The Flash?

First of all, note that Oliver is dressed not in his Arrow gear, but rather he looks suspiciously like he’s wearing the uniform of the League of Assassins. Arrow fans know that Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Noble) has been aggressively pushing Oliver to take his place as the Demon’s Head of the League, to the point of framing the Arrow for a renewed killing spree in Starling City. It looks like the Arrow identity will be burned before too long, which may force Oliver, as evidenced above, to officially join the League.

Then, there on the right, is Firestorm. (Fire, presumably to be added in post-production.) You had to figure that Firestorm would be back at some point, but does this herald some bad news coming for Ronnie Raymond fans? We know that Martin Stein, the Victor Garber half of Firestorm, will be part of the upcoming Arrow/Flash smash-up spin-off, but we’ve heard nothing about Amell’s Ronnie being part of the cast. So will something happen to Ronnie in the fight against Reverse-Flash? Be afraid, fans.

The Flash continues Tuesdays at 8 pm on The CW, while Arrow airs Wednesday on the same network.
