Are you a fan of Star Wars? Of course you are. What about awesome conventions? Of course you are. How about beautiful weather? Disneyland? Knotts Berry Farm? The Ocean? Yes, yes, and yes, right? Well, then, if you haven’t bought your ticket to this year’s Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. After San Diego Comic-Con sold out in record time this year, many con-savvy fans of geek culture immediately turned to the Star Wars-centric convention as a means to alleviate their pain a bit. If you haven’t heard of Celebration or were on the fence about whether or not you wanted to go, two names have just been added to the guest list that should have you running to the site to grab your ticket. Star Wars spinoff directors Josh Trank and Gareth Edwards have just been confirmed to be in attendance.
It was recently announced that Edwards will be directing the first new Star Wars spinoff, titled Rogue One. The details of the film are being kept under wraps (seriously, Disney REALLY loves keeping secrets) but rumor has it that the film may be a heist film revolving around the theft of the Death Star plans. As for Trank’s spinoff, the internet has had a great time speculating on who the next spinoff will center around, and Han Solo, Yoda, and Boba Fett are names that continually pop up on the spinoff list. It would be great to get a young Han Solo movie or to learn more about Fett or Yoda but we shall see what happens. Considering just how much fun the Mouse House is already having with their multi-billion dollar purchase, Trank’s spinoff could just as easily be a political drama that focuses on the Galactic Senate prior to Palpatine’s rise to power. Your guess is as good as mine.
Trank and Edwards join an impressive list of guests that will be sharing information about a galaxy far, far away that includes J.J. Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, Billy Dee Williams…Do I need to go on? If this absolutely stellar listing doesn’t get you excited, take a look at the full list of guests over on the Celebration website here! If that’s STILL not enough to get you excited, Star Wars Episode VII writer/director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy will be kicking the convention off with a special panel for The Force Awakens and promise a special announcement. Will it be a new trailer?? Will it be announced that Abrams is taking Episode IX?? Will they just come on stage, yell “PSYCH!”, then drop the mic before heading back to their mansions?? Only time will tell but you will want to among those in attendance because it will likely be a panel for the ages.
You can still get tickets directly from the Star Wars Celebration site by clicking here. Still not excited?? Maybe this fun promo video will help!
Can’t make it to the big show? Nerd Bastards will be in attendance to share the coolest/newest/most important news from the convention and we will make sure to keep you informed!
Are you going to Celebration this year? If so, what are you most excited to see? If not, why are you skipping it?
