Oh yeah, Ant-Man comes out in July. Sorry, Ant-Man, but with Avengers: Age of Ultron coming out in a few short weeks, Daredevil hitting the interwebs today, and Agents of S.H.I.E.D. on TV weekly, there’s more than enough Marvel Studios goodness to go around right now. But yes, Ant-Man is coming, and just as the market’s been flooded with new Avengers stuff lately, we’re getting a new insight into the smallest superhero in the biz. Or at least his arch-nemesis. We’ve known for a while that The Strain star Corey Stoll was playing bad guy Darren Cross in the latest superhero adaptation, but now we know what he looks like all dressed up and ready to kill as Yellowjacket.

And in addition to the above photo, director Peyton Reed gave some insight into the difference between Ant-Man, and his much more militant counterpart Yellowjacket. “Hank Pym’s Ant-Man suit doesn’t have a single weapon, whereas Yellowjacket is armed with plasma cannons,” Reed explained, adding that his hero has other advantages. “Ant-Man is very fast when he’s small. Also, when he shrinks, he increases his density, so he’s got increased strength.”
So it’s a fair fight, look at the picture.
In the comic book, Yellowjacket, like Ant-Man, is a creation of Pym. The plot Ant-Man follows con man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) as he’s recruited by the enigmatic inventor Hanky Pym (Michael Douglas) to safeguard and protect his various inventions, including the shrinking technology of Ant-Man. The film has been described as more of a heist picture than a conventional superhero flick.
Ant-Man will be in theaters everywhere on July 17.
