So we’ve been burned twice in the attempt to reboot Terminator without James Cameron and turn it into an epic trilogy filled with trills, chills and spills, all to make some mad bills at the box office. Now Terminator 3 had its moments, and Terminator Salvation had potential until they wussed out on the ending, but can there truly be a satisfying chapter of this series without the man whose vision started it all? That’s the question that Terminator Genisys will try to answer, and from the looks of it, the movie is pulling out all the time travel stops with paradoxes and retconning – TO THE MAX! But now there’s a new twist provided in the latest trailer. Which you can or cannot watch for yourself below.
Seriously, here there be spoilers, and from the looks of it, a pretty HUGE! one. But don’t take my word for it, check out the trailer below.
Wow. I can’t believe they put that in the trailer. So not only is John Connor (played here by Jason Clarke) now some kind human/Terminator hybrid, he’s also the bad guy?! You may recall that the original ending of Terminator Salvation was supposed to see Christian “we’re through personally and professionally” Bale‘s John Connor basically be so fatally injured that his skin is put over the exoskeleton of Terminator Sam Worthington, thus making the leader of the human resistance a machine.
Genisys stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the elder T-800, Emilia Clarke is now playing Sarah Connor, and Jai Courtney will be filling the boots of Kyle Reese. Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World director Alan Taylor is directing.
Speaking of GoT, in case you’re interested, this new spot featuring Thrones co-star Clarke has also appeared online paying tribute to Clarke’s two roles as the Mother of Dragons, and now the Mother of the Resistance. Roll that clip below.
Terminator Genisys will be in theaters everywhere on July 1.
