batman-vs-superman-2

Rumor hit the Internet  yesterday that the first five seconds of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer will be leaked by the film’s director Zack Snyder tomorrow at 9am. Just an hour before the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim kicks off. Read on to find out why I’m personally excited about this as well as get more details on the trailer. Feel free to yell at me in the comments about how Batman isn’t that great. Fight me IRL, I don’t care. With any luck, this is going to be a bloodbath.

It seems as if DC has decided to no longer stand idly by and watch the MCU carnage; Batman V Superman is finally (allegedly) going to be gaining some mainstream visibility. It’s rumored that director, Zack Snyder will be releasing the first five seconds of his upcoming Batman V superman: Dawn of Justice Thursday at 9am via his twitter.

In more of a snicker than a nod Lucasfilm and Disney‘s Star Wars celebration taking place in the Anaheim Convention Center, Snyder will leak the teaser just an hour before the convention starts.

I must admit that this really does bring out the child in me. The (*insert beloved character here) Vs. (*insert beloved character here) blockbuster model has always been a little lackluster. Typically ending in some sort of pseudo-stalemate, or just the excruciating sting of defeat for those of us who were always just dead wrong in assessing a fictional character’s fighting abilities. In light of this recent announcement, I feel something I haven’t felt in a long time shining through all my layers of crippling cynicism. . . Could this be the joy a child feels?

The rumor, leaked via Umberto Gonzalez’s Instagram at roughly 3pm yesterday only promises five seconds. However, it will also then allow interested patrons to sign up for the opportunity to see the full trailer in a theater this coming Monday, April 20th. In addition the trailer will be played prior to screenings of Joss Whedon‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron, but you were going to go see that anyway, right?.

In short, this is going to get some people riled up. The Batman V Superman debate has long been a source of animosity among dedicated DC fans (my bet’s always been on Batman, personally). It’s unlikely that the outcome or events leading up to the movie will actually do much to sway the opinions of the more bloodthirsty of fans out there. But really, honestly, who would pass up five seconds of potentially validating footage to help substantiate their claims regarding Bruce Wayne’s unmeasurable IQ and aptitude for ass-kicking?

Not me, dude.

In spite of the fact that this movie could be a riot waiting to happen, I have to say that I’m excited. Maybe I’m excited just because this movie could be a riot waiting to happen, but you couldn’t really fault me for that. After all, it guarantees a memorable movie experience, even if it ends up that we’re about to have another AVP on our hands. So, go ahead, watch the footage when it’s released tomorrow. Argue with your roommate. Geek out a little bit. You know you want to.

It’s good to feel again, guys.
