If you haven’t already devoured Daredevil on Netflix, I’m sure you put a pretty good dent in it. And if you have finished, I’m sure there’s a Marvel-sized hole in your media life that likely can’t be filled by the weekly adventures of the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and now you’re wonder just who, how, and when you’re going to be getting your next fix from this dark and gritty side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Of course you know the who, it’s AKA: Jessica Jones, the tale of the former superhero turned private investigator starring Krysten Ritter. The when is sometime later this year, but if you’re one of those types that wants everything right now, here’s a treat: Jessica Jones villain the Purple Man, in the flesh.

Courtesy of random New Yorker Korat Ersin, here’s an unoffical first look at former Doctor Who David Tennant walking to work on the set of Jessica Jones.

Well they nailed the wardrobe, but note the lack of airbrushed purple skin tone. Not that it’s a big deal, but I wonder if it’s a character trait that Tennant’s version of Zebediah Kilgrave will develop later, or whether the name will be left purely to the metaphorical. Still, it looks like he raided the Joker’s closet from The Dark Knight, doesn’t it?

In case you didn’t know, in the comic book origins of Jessica Jones, the Purple Man is the reason that Jones left her life as a superheroine for something more down to Earth. He kidnapped her, used his mind control powers to force her to live with him as he psychologically tortured her, and then he used her as an assassin to attempt to kill Daredevil. It’s widely expected that the Netflix series will follow a similar background for the two characters.

In another thought, it should be interesting to see Tennant play the villain for a change, his small role as Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire notwithstanding.

AKA: Jessica Jones will launch its entire first season on Netflix sometime later this year.
