Paul Rudd made an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman last night, bringing with him the clip of Scott Lang getting his hands on the Ant-Man suit for the first time! First appearances can often be deceiving and this one certainly was.
Rudd struggles to keep a straight face as he tries explaining to Letterman just who Ant-Man is. It doesn’t really go very well and Rudd said the same thing happened when he tried to tell his son about the role who said, when he found out his dad was playing Ant-Man:
I can’t wait to see how stupid that’ll be.
After trying to explain to Letterman Rudd shrugs his shoulders and says:
Well, I guess we all can’t wait to see how stupid this will be!
Now while some might think this might be a sign that Ant-Man is gonna be a box office disaster, stop and think. Rudd in on Letterman, both are very intelligently dry witted about just about everything. Making fun of themselves and the role is just the thing they do. If you really want to see something, just wait until Rudd shows up on Conan.
You see, every new film Rudd goes on Conan to promote he brings a clip as actors do. The thing is that he always brings the same clip, and has been doing it for years.
I imagine he’ll do it once again with Ant-Man. So don’t get your Marvel Fan-Boy suspenders in a twist. Everything is going to work out. Rudd is going to be the Ant-Man we deserve.
Ant-Man hits theater screens July 17th, 2015.
