Phil Lord and Chris Miller are names that have popped up a lot recently in entertainment news, and for good reason. They are, after all, the duo behind ludicrously enjoyable films like The Lego Movie and 21/22 Jump Street, so it’s no surprise that their considerable talents have been the subject of demand. It seems that they’ll be adding another immensely popular franchise to their impressive resume in 2018, as the pair are set to write and produce an animated Spider-Man feature film. Few details have been released yet, of course, but some tasty nuggets of information have been made available.
Most notably, the web head’s animated film is set hit theaters on July 20th, 2018 and will “co-exist” with the other Spider-Man films while still maintaining its independence from other live action Spidey flicks. Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Amy Pascal will also be serving as producers, while the aforementioned team of Lord and Miller will write and produce. Tom Rothman, the rogue that dropped this delicious bomb for us, stated that it was going to be “fucking awesome”Spider-Man, like most other super hero characters, has always existed well outside of the confines of reality, so it’s going to be fucking awesome indeed to see what happens when the shackles of live action are removed in the wall crawler’s movie world. I don’t believe that it has been told whether or not the film will be CG or traditionally animated, but my money is on a computer animated adventure.
Hopefully more information will be available soon despite the 3 year wait for its arrival.
