After more than a few leaks and teases, Suicide Squad director David Ayer has taken to twitter to show of first full and fully official look at our new big screen iteration of the clown prince of crime. After seeing it, I am sure you’ll agree that it will be a rather polarizing take on the 75 year old beloved Batman villian.
So, ready to see your first look at Jared Leto as the Joker?

I’d suggest letting that image settle in a little before bit for reacting… Now here’s a slightly bigger version.
If you want to start reacting, now is a good time. For me? I’ll play nice and say I am pleasantly intrigued with this, let’s call it modern take on the Joker. For those of you familiar with the South African alternative hip hop rave duo, Die Antwoord, you might share that subtle (or sledgehammer-esque overt) Ninja vibe off this.
Let’s just say this is clearly a new and very different take on the Joker. If you think about it, taking a wild and new approach to the character is rather necessary for the film maker since this version comes so soon after the critically and fan loved version that preceded it. I mean, do you WANT to just see the same thing again and again and again, or do we let creators create and try something new with these near mythological creations.
Still… can’t shake the whole “didn’t that guy get punched in the face in a Denny’s in Lethbridge a few weeks back?” feel from this (and here is a link for context ’cause jokes are always funnier when you have to explain them.)
Sorry, I am still trying to process this, so I’ll bow out with this animated gif of Thumper.
