You’ve likely seen or heard rumblings of the now famous Hall Way scene from Marvel’s Daredevil series on Netflix (if you haven’t, you can read about it HERE). While that fight scene is indeed a marvel (haha, see what I did there?) in cinematography, and a great showing of the stamina, persevance, and out right badass-ery of the shows title character, there is another super hero fight scene from another Marvel show that is deserving of high praise – yet no one seems to be talking about it.
The show in question is Marvels Agents of SHIELD. While the shows overall quality and watchability is debatable, it has its moments. A particular stand out moment came from the recent episode “The Dirty Half Dozen” which aired April 28th. In it, star Chloe Bennet’s character Skye (here name is Daisy!!!) kicks some Hydra ass. It has to be the best action sequence in the entire series thus far.
It was not just a good fight scene, it was shot in a single take, one camera, no cuts, and choreographed to near perfection. Here, watch it below and see for yourself:
When the heck did Skye become such a skilled figher in gun Kata/gun Fu? Pulling off choreography like that believably and especially to do it in a single take, is the stuff of highly trained martial artists, gymnasts and dancers, ‘not’ your typical actor. Kudos to Chloe Bennet for showing her worth.
Never thought I’d be saying this when the show started, but Skye’s now my favorite character on the show. Her growth from shy computer hacker at the start of Season One, to now being gifted with Inhuman powers, and a highly trained goverment agent. Not only was that fight scene cool to watch, it drove home Skye’s transformation from a hapless tag along character to a true Agent of SHIELD.
An epic scene worthy of the Avenger known as “Quake”. Skye is now finally “Quake” in my honest opinion!
