Marvel.com has just announced the casting of Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Sherlock, The Office, Oh hell this could take forever if I named all the stuff of his we all love…) for Captain America: Civil War. That’s right, Bilbo is going on an adventure with the likes of Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), and all the other Marvel superheros involved in Civil War. There’s no word on what role Freeman might play and you know what that means… You got it, what time is it? Speculation time!!!Kevin Feige, Marvel’s Marvelous Movie Manic in Charge had this to say about Freeman’s casting:

From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in ‘The Office,’ Martin’s range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us. We couldn’t be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This is some big news, could his character cross from Captain America: Civil War which will release on May 6th 2016 to his best Sherlock acting buddy Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange that releases November 4th that same year?

Which character or superhero could Freeman play? One choice might be Government Liaison Peter Henry Gyrich. He was a thorn in the Avengers side often threatening them with Government sanctions on equipment and international access. Given the Governments heavy involvement with the Civil War story line, Gyrich is one character that might pop up taking over the Norman Osbourne parts in Civil War.

I am drawing a blank on any superhero he might play. If you’ve got any other ideas on who Freeman might play in Civil War, shout them out int the comments section below.
