If there is one thing fans can agree on about the Prequels is that everyone hated Jar Jar Binks. His annoyance factor was an 11 on the Spinal Tap Scale. Even Star Trek fans hated his Gugan butt. It should be no surprise then that super Star Wars Fan and Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams doesn’t really care for J.J. Binks all that much himself. In fact he’s considered killing off the character all together.

Here’s what Abrams had to say about the subject:

I have a thought about putting Jar Jar Binks’s bones in the desert there. I’m serious! Only three people will notice, but they’ll love it.

It’s not surprising really when you consider that Jar Jar played such a large role in the first film. George Lucas, who was sure fans would embrace this new character, must have been surprised with the fan backlash on the character, who virtually disappeared in the following two movies. From side kick to side note in one movie, that’s got to hurt.

Now we should get back to reality though, as much as fans might call for Jar Jar’s head, Disney isn’t going to allow that movie. As with many things that totally suck when first introduced, certain people find those underdogs attractive which can lead to developing a cult following. Even Jar Jar has a cult following of fans, not to mention that he returned in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and could even make an appearance in Star Wars Rebels at some point.

Which side of the Kill Jar Jar fence are you?
