There’s more news on the new television series front today. The CW has released the first trailer for the Arrow/Flash spinoff series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which plucks from both series and adds a couple new DC Comics characters to the mix. Let’s hope this trailer doesn’t pull a Supergirl/Pop-Music-Mix-Faux-Pa.

Here’s the official pres release and trailer that follows:

DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”).

Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).

Wow, that was  lot to take in at one sitting wasn’t it? We’ll have to see how Vandal Savage is introduced. Savage is a long time DC villain, appearing first in Green Lantern, but quickly making the rounds to fight just about every hero at one point or another, including the Flash and Green Arrow, being an immortal with a lot of time on their hands can do that.

What is appealing to this set up for me is the time travel aspect of the show. This opens a lot of doors and aspects of the DC universe that can be explored. In fact it reminds me of a Marvel comic called eXiles which would also be great to see as a television series. Opening up the DC universe to multiple timelines or alternate Earths could be a lot of fun for viewers and fans.

What did you think of the trailer, are you planning on tuning in?
