Word is coming out of this year’s Cannes that Demarest, a production finance company is backing the adaptation of George A. Romero‘s Empire of the Dead 15 issue comic book series published by Marvel. The final chapter in the series is scheduled to hit store shelves in June of this year.
The production will be written as well as executive produced by Ramero and his long time partner Peter Grunwald. Demarest’s Sam Englebert and William D. Johnson round out the producers of the Empire of the Dead series.
Empire of the Dead‘s synopsis:
Welcome to New York City years after the undead plague has erupted—but just because Manhattan has been quarantined, don’t think that everyone inside is safe! Not only do flesh-eaters roam within Manhattan, but there’s another ancient predator about to take a bite out of the Big Apple!
What do you think? Is The Walking Dead television audience ready to try some zombie and vampire television? Oh, yeah, some of you might not know that the new predator threat facing mankind is… vampires.
There’s still a ton of work to do before the series sees the light of day at some network or streaming service, but I am interested to see how this goes.
