Let’s face it. We have all, at one point or another, put meat skewers or sharp bladed utensils in between our fingers and pretended we were Wolverine. Well bub, it’s time to put the kebab sticks away. You can now (if you have a 3D printer) build your own retractable Wolverine Claws!
Advancer Technologies have released a spiffy video, as well as complete step-by-step instructions, that will enable you to make your own set of Wolverine claws. They call them “Bionic Claws” so they don’t get sued, but that doesn’t stop them from playing X-Men music during the video though! The retractable feature is done with a technology they’re developing called MyoWare, a fourth-generation muscle sensor.

Our tutorial will teach you to build bionic claws using our fourth-generation muscle sensor, the MyoWare. Simply flex your forearm muscle and *SNIKT*, a fraction of a second later the 4 inch claws extend out. Relax your forearm to retract the claws. We’ve even added a muscle-activated locking mechanism in case you want the claws to stay out without keeping your muscle flexed.
MyoWare sensor could also be used to make prosthetic limbs more functional. Someone would only need to flex their muscle to use an artificial limb and pick something up. If you want to help, head on over to their Kickstarter page to get more info.
