Just days after the full first season the Man Without Fear debuted on the Netflix, it was received as a bona fide hit, and a second season was immediately ordered. We’ll be seeing more of Matt Murdock and the battle for Hell’s Kitchen.
Charlie Cox will again be playing Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio will be back as Wilson “The Kingpin” Fisk. While Deborah Ann Woll and the rest of the primary cast also appear onboard. We’ll also see a new cast of characters and villains. One in particular is making some news today.
You can’t think about Daredevil for too long without thinking of Bullseye. Reportedly, Fast and Furious 7 star Jason Statham is in talks for the role.
Bullseye is a “never miss” type of mercenary assassin and is a major villain, being involved in some of the most memorable moments in the Daredevil comic series.
Latino-Review reports that Statham is being targeted to play Bullseye in the second season of Daredevil. They make it fairly clear that this isn’t official, but back up the rumor by stating that he has been meeting with Marvel after taking a break from the press tour for Spy.
Previously, Daredevil star Charlie Cox said he wanted Bullseye, Elektra, and The Punisher to appear in the second season. Earlier rumors already suggested love interest and ninja assassin Elektra will join season 2, but there’s been no word on whether we will also get The Punisher.
Long before Marvel Entertainment reacquired the rights to Daredevil in 2013, Fox made several attempts to reboot the brand, and in 2008, British action star Jason Statham expressed his desire to play the “Man Without Fear” in an interview with the LA Times.
So it’s interesting to see Statham is still orbiting the world of Hell’s Kitchen. How befitting is it to see him go from potential hero to now being rumored as a lead villain?
Latino Review also went onto suggest that Mr. Fear is expected to also to appear in season two, but one of the most interesting proposed rumors has to be to supposed presence of Mysterio. Fans will recognize him as a Spider-man villain. In the Kevin Smith comic Guardian Devil, Mysterio hires Bullseye to kill Karen Page. But I doubt Marvel/Netflix would adapt Kevin Smith’s Guardian Devil story line. But who knows, maybe.
If they do draw from the Guardian Devil story arc as inspiration for season two, then it could mean big things. Now that the Spider-Man universe and the MCU are unified, Mysterio, and other Spidey characters can start being woven in.
Daredevil‘s second season will begin streaming in 2016
