It’s hard to believe that in just a bit over six months, audiences will finally get the first of several Star Wars sequels that they have been waiting over 30 years to see. When Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens hits theaters on Dec 18, fans of the iconic science fiction series will be reunited with fan favorites Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa Solo, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, as well as everyone’s favorite droids, R2-D2 and C-3PO. Considering that decades will have passed in the story since we last saw the heroes of a galaxy far, far away, fans can expect to see older versions of characters that they grew up loving but how about the characters that don’t age, i.e. Threepio and Artoo? Well, it appears that we know how at least one of those two has changed since we last saw him on the forest moon of Endor.
Recently, the photograph below surfaced, claiming to be a photo of some movie merchandise, coming from Mexico.
If you think that the image on the packaging seems a bit familiar, you may have seen this table set, which was previously posted by Jedi News.
So, if the two pieces of merchandise are to be believed (and why wouldn’t you believe them?), it appears that the worrisome protocol droid managed to get himself in another spot of trouble but, really, is it surprising? Audiences have previously seen Threepio put himself into situations that weren’t necessarily the easiest situations to get out of and that is part of the droid’s charm.
Chances are that fans of the property will learn about the replacement limb in the upcoming Wars novel, Star Wars: Aftermath, which will bridge the gap between Episodes VI and VII, or from one of the upcoming comic books, which have already revealed a surprise or two.
How do you think the arm looks? Do you have any theories as to how Threepio lost it in the first place?
