Earlier today it was announced that Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal will be playing the Punisher in Daredevil Season 2. Just to affirm fans that Frank Castle is indeed coming back to the MCU, Marvel just released a new logo for Daredevil’s second season.

The new Daredevil logo is riddled with bullet holes, and came attached to the twitter message, “Frank Castle is coming to Hell’s Kitchen. Those who stand in his way shall be punished.”

Oh, and just to add extra more sweetness to the Punisher announcement, Jon Bernthal has posted an image of himself with a Punisher comic book to Twitter to commemorate the whole thing.

Daredevil Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2016. Charlie Cox will again be playing Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio will be back as Wilson “The Kingpin” Fisk. While Deborah Ann Woll and the rest of the primary cast also appear onboard. With the inclusion of The Punisher, its rumored that Elektra will join season 2, as well as the card throwing assassin Bulleyes.

Definitely sounds like a character heavy season is coming up for season 2. I wonder how the showrunners and creative team will tie it all together. I’ll add, that the logo above indicates that the Punisher is going to be a significant part of season 2. Perhaps the Punisher goes on a killing spree and Daredevil tries to be the voice of reason but ultimately is just getting in the way of Frank Castles blood war; much as the tweet from from Marvel suggests. Maybe season 2’s theme is all about Daredevil saving people from themselves and the Punisher angle is just a plot device to build around that?
