Word is making the Internet rounds that Forest Whitaker is in talks to join the cast of Disney/Lucasfilm‘s Star Wars Spinoff Rogue One. If true and if the deal goes through and the ink dries this would be some fantastic casting. Whitaker is a talented Oscar/Golden Globe/BAFTA winning actor that would bring some heavy-duty acting cred to whatever role he takes on.
Whitaker would be joining Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn. Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) is directing. Whitaker’s role, or even what side of the Force Fence his character will be on is still up in the air and unconfirmed. He could play either side well, and has done so very dramatically in his past roles.
Rogue One takes place between Episode III and Episode IV, but leans closer toward A New Hope and hits theater screens December 16th, 2016.
