A lot of Star Wars video game news came out of the E3 today. Electronic Arts is getting in on a galaxy far far away, on two fronts. EA announced a mobile CCG Role Playing Game with Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes. On EA’s other front – Star Wars: Battlefront. EA showed 5 minutes of assault on Hoth gameplay footage. Then there was first look at Star Wars: The Old Republic—Knights of the Fallen Empire, a free expansion pack coming later this month that promises a return to cinematic storytelling. Check out the details on all 3 of these titles below, or Wayne Brady may have to force choke a b*tch.
Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes lools to be a collectible card game like Hearthstone or to put it in another way a digital version of Magic: The Gathering but with Star Wars characters. Cool, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Here is what EA has officially released about Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes:
When we set out to make STAR WARS: GALAXY OF HEROES, we wanted to tap into the fantasy of collecting characters and starfighters and then let people enjoy the fun of playing with them creatively. We’re bringing this idea to life by allowing players to take part in battles with collections of their favorite heroes, characters, and ships from across the Star Wars™ universe. From the classic trilogy and Star Wars Rebels™ and Star Wars™: The Clone Wars™ animated TV shows, to the prequels films and beyond, we’re giving players a truly extensive Star Wars experience. We have a great partnership with the talented folks at Lucasfilm and Disney Interactive. It is that collaboration that has enabled us to deliver a unique mobile experience that brings the vastness of the epic Star Wars franchise into the palm of your hand, available later this year on the App Store and Google Play.
The E3 2015 Star Wars Battlefront trailer focuses on multiplayer, showing 5 minutes of actual pre-alpha gameplay captured on the Playstation 4 version of the game. It looks like someone made a Star Wars mod for Battlefield. Oh, and, A Stormtrooper shot somebody…so unrealistic! Still, it Star Wars, and it looks hella fun!
In Star Wars™ Battlefront you can “battle in epic 40 multiplayer battles reminiscent of The Battle of Hoth.” As the Empire, you must accompany AT-AT walkers as they march towards the Rebel base to destroy it. And as a Rebel, you must do everything you can to stop them.
Star Wars Battlefront will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC when it is released on November 17th, 2015.
Lastly, is our first look at first look at Star Wars: The Old Republic—Knights of the Fallen Empire. I didn’t even know people still played Old Republic.
Star Wars: The Old Republic: Knights of the Fallen Empire is the fifth Digital Expansion for the BioWare’s MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. The game will have a renewed focus on cinematic storytelling, and feature “new worlds, new companions, and a dynamic story that will be affected by the choices players make.” The story of Knights of the Fallen Empire will focus on the new threat of the Eternal Empire and its leader, the Emperor of the Eternal Throne. At Level 60, player characters will then become the “Outlander” and must face the new faction.
You can “build a team of hand-picked allies to join your alliance; meet new companions and reunite with existing companions ready to offer you their loyalty.” The game lets you play “one of eight class stories enhanced to offer a deeper, more accessible experience purely focused on immersing you in a personal Star Wars story.” And this is “only the beginning of an evolving Star Wars story, new chapters released on a regular basis.”
Alright, that’s it. That’s all the Star Wars game announcements we could handle. What title are you most excited for?
