Telltale Games are no strangers to making some compelling episodic games. They’ve already explored the worlds of Fables, Game of Thrones, and The Walking Dead; the last of which they revealed they have plans to re-visit. Today at E3, Telltale announced their plans for The Walking Dead: Michonne, which will take place during the arc of issues #126 to #139 of the Image comic series. This mini-series will focus on the titular character’s life before she joined up with Rick Grimes and his group.
Creator and writer Robert Kirkman had this to say of the game, and of Michonne herself:
“In many ways, Michonne herself is a reflection of the world of The Walking Dead,”
“She is brutal and cold on the outside, but deep beneath what is broken, she remains hopeful, trying to claw her way out of the darkness that surrounds her. In our effort to bring the world of the comic and the world of the Telltale series closer together, there is no greater character than Michonne to help bridge that gap.”
No trailer has been released yet, only the first official artwork (seen below.) The series will be a three part-er, debuting this fall on XBox 360, XBox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, PC, iOS, and Android.
There is no doubt many fans that will jump at the chance to find out more about Michonne’s life pre Rick and co. On the show, we gleaned a little backstory through flashbacks and her talks with Carl that she had a son, Andre, whom she was with during the outbreak; along with her husband and their friend. Maybe (hopefully) the series will give us insight as to how the aforementioned men became the jaw-less, arm-less zombies Michonne had on leashes when we first met her. It’ll surely be equal parts heart breaking and exciting to watch her become the badass Michonne that we all know today.
