Often the DVD after theater market of the movie business has provided fans and directors the chance to introduce deleted scenes and different cuts of a film that might not have been what the studio in charge had in mind for a theatrical release. It’s kind of a win-win situation. The director finally gets to do his thing, the fan gets extras, and the studio gets something special to help market the DVD release. This time around X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer gets to include 17 minutes of the deleted Rogue (Anna Paquin) scene. Here’s the teaser.
For those of you wondering where this will fit in, here’s your answer. The 17 minute scene starts when Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) shoves those claws into Kitty Pryde. In the movie cut that made it to the big screen, Kitty sucks it up and soldiers on, but in the deleted version Professor X and Magneto run off to free Rogue from Sentinels so that she can absorb Kitty’s powers and keep Wolverine in the past. It’s a prison break for Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart.
The X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut hits store shelves on July 14th of this year. That marks the 15th anniversary of the release of the first X-Men movie that started it all.
