Rachel McAdams Considered For Role In ‘Doctor Strange’

Rachel McAdams, one of the best things to come out of Canada since maple syrup, has reportedly been offered a role in Marvel’s upcoming production Doctor Strange.  If cast, she’d join director Scott Derrick and fellow thespians Benedict Cumberbach, Tilda Swinton, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.  The cast is shaping up to be epic, and only moreso if McAdams joins.  Do you think the Sorceror Supreme can handle the likes of Regina George?

Rachel McAdams, who currently stars in the second season of Showtime‘s anthology crime drama True Detective along side Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn, has led a solid hollywood career over the past fifteen years.  Her early roles included teen comedy’s such as The Hot Chick, and the cult classic Mean Girls. Her turn as Allie in the adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ widly popular book The Notebook garnered industry acclaim, and led to a slew of box office successes including the Sherlock Holmes films alongside Marvel mainstay Robert Downey, Jr.

No word yet on who McAdams is being considered to play, but folks at BMD are suggsting it’d be Clea, Stephen Strange’s lover and apprentice who’s arc in the MCU could have a major scope beyond this stand-alone film.  Clea is a badass sorceress, is often an ally of the Defenders, has had strong connections to Valkyrie and has even been considered by some to be next in line for the title of Sorceror Supreme!  Kevin Feige would be smart to wrap her up in a multi-film contract, especially if Dormammu is a part of his post-Phase 3 plan.

Doctor Strange stands to be one of the most distinct properties within the MCU as it’s the first to really explore Marvel’s dense catalogue dealing with the mystical realms.  Strange isn’t a superhero who got bit by an insect, or swallowed some serum in a lab – he was chosen by an age old order of wizards who protect the realm of man from unspeakable, Lovecraftian horrors. Having a powerhouse film company like Marvel heading that up is exciting for anyone who’s bridged the divide between high fantasy and the superhero genre.

Doctor Strange is scheduled to be released on November 4th, 2016.
