Sometimes a spin-off can be just as good as the original, think of The Jeffersons, or Frasier, or Star Trek: The Next Generation. Will Fear the Walking Dead follow suit? We can’t say for certain yet, but it looks like it’s going to put on a good show from the first full-trailer from the series posted below. It bowed at San Diego Comic Con earlier today along with the previously posted trailer for season six of original recipe The Walking Dead. Obviously, both shows have a lot in common, but Fear looks like it’s going to take us all the way back to the beginning, good thing that the end of the world knows no time difference.
Without further ado, let’s roll the videotape on the trailer.
Other than brief flashbacks we haven’t seen too much as to how the end of the world began on The Walking Dead, Rick was asleep for most of that, remember? That might sound interesting to some of you folks out there, but from what the trailer reveals it seems that Fear is rewalking (heh) the same well-worn path as any number of zombie apocalypse movies before it, and that I don’t find terribly interesting. Perhaps the show’s cast will elevate the material. Or perhaps Robert Kirkman and Co. have a couple of twists up their sleeve.
Fear the Walking Dead starring starring Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, and Alycia Debnam Carey, and Executive Produced by Robert Kirkman, Dave Erickson, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert will debut on AMC for as shortened 6-episode first season on August 23. It will lead almost directly into the sixth season premiere of The Walking Dead on October 11.
We’ll have more Comic Con coverage throughout the weekend.
