Now that we’ve gotten Arrow out of the way, let’s talk about his fast moving colleague, The Flash. Yes, The Flash was also at San Diego Comic Con, and the cast and crew revealed some details about what fans can expect in season 2. First and foremost, obviously, is to resolve that big wormhole over Central City problem that the series left off with. Of course, the Flash will beat the wormhole, and then we’re off to a new season, with new stories, and new characters that will be very familiar to comic book readers and fans of the DC Comics speedster. So who’s coming to Central City next, and be they good or bad?
In Hall H earlier tonight, a pair of new castmates for The Flash were introduced. The first is Masters of Sex’s Teddy Sears, who will be playing the part of Jay Garrick, AKA: the Golden Age Flash. “Jay Garrick has never been portrayed in live action,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. “Now that we established our Flash, we thought it would be great to bring in the original Flash to create a brand new relationship with Barry.”
Garrick will arrive with a warning for the S.T.A.R. Labs gang that there’s a very big threat on the horizon, a threat called Professor Zoom. In the comic book Zoom and Eobard Thawne, played last season by Tom Cavanaugh, are one and the same, but it looks like Zoom, as the big bad in season two, will be something different.
Also announced was the casting of One Tree Hill’s Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot, Joe West’s new police partner with an active interest in meta-humans, and, Kreisberg adds, she’s going to “complicate Barry Allen’s love life in Season 2.”
The panel also confirmed that Wally West, the Kid Flash and third Flash to wear the red uniform, will also be introduced this coming season. As for a visual aid, here’s the reel that the crowd at Comic Con saw:
The Flash will be back for season two staring Tuesday October 6, at 8 pm on the CW.
