Wreck-It Ralph, aka the sleeper hit of 2012 produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, and directed by Rich Moore (Simpsons, Futurama alumni) will have a sequel and John C. Reilly is on board! We can’t contain our excitement, as Wreck-It Ralph was one of the best Disney films in recent years. Ralph, you’re bad, and that’s good! You will never be good, and that’s not bad! There’s no one we’d rather you be than you! More details after the jump!
Over the weekend actor John C. Reilly (Guardians of the Galaxy, Chicago, Boogie Nights) who starred as the voice of Ralph said that a sequel was in the works and that he had signed on. Granted that while the source was a blogger in attendance at the Galway Film Feadh in Ireland, nerds everywhere can pretty much count on it. Disney has yet to to release an official statement about production, we know that director Rich Moore has been toying with a sequel for some time, and Disney can’t really scoff at an animated film grossing over $471 million gold coins worldwide.
If you didn’t see Wreck-It Ralph, please wear the cone of shame for at least a week. Afterwards, rent it wherever you do business and get to know the awesomeness that is this film. Wreck-It Ralph follows the various video game characters as they lead their normal in-game lives in addition to traveling through the power cables to other games and areas throughout Litwak’s Family Fun Center and Arcade. The main character, Ralph is the antagonist in a Mario-Esque game called “Fix-It Felix, Jr.” After being fed up with the role of villian, he leaves his game and goes on an adventure which includes characters voiced by Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch.
There is currently no time frame on when a sequel will be produced, so until then watch this trailer for the original and bask in nostalgia!
