In this day in age when celebrities (and most people, really) are so afraid of potentially offending a person or a group, or are so cautious that something they say or do will be caught on camera or video and taken out of context, isn’t is great when we get to see a celeb just let loose with some foul language or a sick joke, to help remind us lowly fans that they are, in fact, people just like us?  A perfect example that springs to mind is Bryan Cranston’s epic (and epically left-field) burn on a fan during a Q&A panel recently at San Diego Comic Con.  Well, hang on to your hats, kids, because I’ve got another raunchy celebrity experience to share with you!

The week before San Diego Comic Con blew the collective Nerd minds of the nation, the second annual PopCon happened in Indianapolis.  While obviously nowhere near the size of SDCC, PopCon did see attendance of almost 25,000 folks – pretty darn impressive for a con in only its second year – in addition to hosting the Halo World Championship tournament.  Of the many cool celebrities to visit Indy for the show (Edward James Olmos, John de Lancie, Troy Baker, Sam J. Jones, and YouTube celebs Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, among others), my podcasting compatriots and I had a unique opportunity to make a very special, very NSFW connection with Starship Troopers’ Johnny Rico himself, Casper Van Dien!

A little bit of back-story for you: on the Friday of PopCon, myself and my Geek Stuff Off the Cuff podcast co-host, Jared Wade, had the pleasure of moderating Casper’s Q&A panel on the Main Stage of the con floor.  Since we spent the better part of an hour fielding questions from fans and asking our own queries of the very genial Mr. Van Dien, Jared and I decided that we didn’t need to rehash that same experience when we hosted Casper on our podcast for a live recording from the stage on the Sunday of PopCon.  Like a gift from above, an idea dawned on us: we skipped over to Casper’s booth and asked him if he’d be interested in playing a LIVE game of Cards Against Humanity with us for the podcast recording; he responded with an enthusiastic, Rico-esque “Fuck yeah!”  And the rest is history.

I’ve embedded the podcast below, so you can listen yourself and share in all the delicious debauchery with us.  The first half of this episode is PopCon recap between Jared, my wife Emily, and I; the “good stuff” with Casper starts around the 31-minute mark.  Give it a listen, and let me know in the comments below: what was your favorite question/answer combo?  Don’t be afraid to join the conversation – it’s good to be bad!
