Earlier today Oliva Munn posted an Instagram of her new purple hair for her upcoming role as Psylocke in Brian Singer‘s X-Men: Apocalypse, (You can check it out after the jump). Shortly after, the upcoming cover of Entertainment Weekly hit the Internet showing us the first official looks at Psylocke, Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) in all their costumed glory.

Here’s Munn’s hair color picture:

Here’s the new cover:

It looks like Psylocke and Magneto are half of Apocalypse’s Four Horseman. Word is that Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and Archangel (Ben Hardy) round out the angels of death and destruction.

That costume is based on the classic, and fan favorite Psylocke suit that Jim Lee designed back in the 90’s.

Magneto looks to be an updated X-Men: Days of Future Past costume. Apocalypse on the other hand is just big. I mean scary big. His powers of body manipulation and changing should be incredible in the film. As actor Oscar Isaac said:

(The costume) hasn’t been figured out yet, but one of his major powers is being able to change all the molecules in his body. So I’ll be changing all the molecules in my body… It’s gonna be a lot of fun.

For those unaware – Apocalypse, also known as En Sabah Nur, is a fictional supervillain that has appeared in the X-Men Comics and cartoons. He is an immortal mutant born 5000 years ego. He travels throughout the ages convincing civilizations that he is a god and manipulating them into fighting wars. Believing that only those who are strong enough to survive hardship and direct conflict are worthy of life. After many years of suspended animation he wakes up and goes on with his dickish ways, recruiting mutants to serve as his personal guard, known as the Four Horsemen. That’s the basis of his comic lore anyway, most of it is a convoluted mess – the stuff that makes explaining comic books sound really dorky. You can read more on his via Wikipedia but all you need to know is that he is a blue skinned asshole hell bent on shaping the world to his vision.

I, for one, don’t remember a whole lot about the character outside of what I recall from the 90’s X-Men animated series, but I think of Apocalypse as a hulking, imposing, and frightening figure who is ridiculously over powered. From what I’ve seen in the Entertainment Weekly cover and the X-Men Apocalypse footage leak from SDCC, this live-action version looks so lame. Fans have already been poking fun at his look, comparing him to Power Rangers Ivan Ooze and they’re so right. It’s going to take one hell of a performance from Oscar Isacc to distract from such poor looking iteration of the character.

At least Olivia Munn’s Psylocke looks tight.
