Sid and Marty Krofft‘s Electra Woman and Dyna Girl is making a comeback on the Internet as a new web series starring Youtubers Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart. This teaser premiered at VidCon Thursday night, the convention about everything going on with online video. You can check it out below.

Hannah Hart has this to say about the new series:

I thought my life was like a daydream already, just from being able to be a YouTuber and making content that I like for a community that I love. But to be playing a superhero on a series I’ve worked on with my friends — are you kidding me?

I have to say I do like those new costumes. It’s a nice upgrade from the originals.

The original series, as one would expect from Sid and Marty Krofft is campy and silly, pretty low-budget, but with special effects and costumes that are fun if not anything else. A web series is probably the best way to go with this franchise.

From the video it looks like the new series will try to capture that campy feel, and I hope it does a lot better than the 2001 reboot starring Markie Post (Night Court) that failed miserably at reviving the campy series. That attempt just used the same basic costumes with the glaring addition of “Power Girl” breast windows to both costumes. That move fits right in with all the sexual innuendo and humor that really made this reboot unpalatable. You can check it out below if you haven’t seen it yet, it never aired for obvious reasons, it always seemed a couple of steps behind where it should be.

So this doesn’t look like a Gritty Reboot, or some lame attempt to carry on the story with an older, alcoholic, trailer trash Electra Woman, thank the Lords of Kobal, rather its an origin story for the pair, or at least the origin of their attempt to make it to the big time of super hero… heroing.
