The last time I paid $10.00 for a magazine, Olivia Munn was naked in it. Empire Magazine asking that same absorbent price for its September 2015 issue would normally be the equivalent of using a $10.00 bill as toilet paper, but this issue features Batman and Superman on the cover. Paying $10.00 for a magazine in this internet age is still dumb, but any time super heroes grace the cover of a popular national mag, it does stand as victory of nerd cultures dominance over society.

This upcoming issues of Empire Magazine gives us another head-on look at  Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight and Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel as they’ll appear in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

It’s considering less exciting seeing these two icons in static print when you can just watch them battle it out in the Dawn Of Justice trailer, but seeing this on the table of your dentist office and you’ll be reminded that nerds have one.

They should have called this movie “Dawn of Muscle Padding”. Good lord did someone hit the control ++ when Photoshopping Batflecks duds? And his neck, umm, where is it?

Bat-pad overload not withstanding, the suit design is arguably the best onscreen suit in Batman’s cinematic history. We’re finally getting a true to comics Batsuit!

Now Superman, eh, he looks just about the same as he did in Man of Steel just shinier and still lacking red underoos. Dude is legitimately jacked though.

Empire’s feature contains some new quotes from the likes of Snyder and Cavill, too. “There is just this gravitas to Batman,” the former says of Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader. “He is operatic.” And what about Superman? “In this movie, everyone has split into different directions as to how they feel about this alien,” explains Cavill. “Some people love him, some hate him. Other people fear him. Is he a tyrant?”

If you’ve seen the Dawn of Justice trailer then it’s clear the films is all they say and more. For now, judging things from the Empire Magazine cover, both characters have that look on their face like they just realized their finger broke through the toiler paper.
