Hot on the heels of yesterday’s announcement of Hawkman being cast, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has recruited one of their most dangerous villains yet. It’s important to get this ratio right; with the big name heroes being so numerous, a formidable team of villains must be created to match it. And this latest casting was a tall order: the main villain for the show is set to be Vandal Savage. Savage’s backstory follows that he’s an immortal bent on ruling the universe, periodically leaving his mark throughout history for the past 6,000 years. Now, Vandal Savage has never received a live-action treatment before, so to say the pressure is on for their actor of choice is an understatement. Variety has reported that the aforementioned actor will be Casper Crump.

Danish actor Crump’s previous projects include the original Danish version of The Killing, and he has David Yates’ live-action adaptation of Tarzan set for next year. This guy seems to have the energy and agility needed to play a super villain. Crump’s character will be introduced in crossover episodes of Arrow and The Flash before jumping in to the midseason premiere of Legends of Tomorrow.

This is the second time we’ve seen the theme of immortality being brought up, (first with Hawkman and Hawkgirl), so a reasonable concern would be how the CW will handle immortality and time jumping in the series; especially on a tight budget. We’ll just have to wait and see- although we haven’t seen many (if any) missteps from the DC TV universe yet!

Arrow and The Flash have set premiere dates of October 6th and 7th on the CW, with DC’S Legends of Tomorrow a few months behind.
