With Supergirl now in production we’ll be eagerly anticipating the knowledge of which DC Comics characters will be showing up on the series, you know, aside from the several comic book characters that are part of the main cast. Casting is fun. Especially for comic book movies and TV shows because there’s always at least half of the fanbase outraged about who got hired to play who. So having said that, let’s talk about Lucy Lane. The less famous of the Lane sisters was rumored to be due for a Supergirl appearance, and now she’s been cast in the show in the person of Jenna Dewan Tatum.
Like the comics, the Lucy Lane of Supergirl is the younger sister or Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane, and like in the comics she has a past with
Jimmy James Olsen, who in the show is played by Mehcad Brooks. It appears that Lucy and James have some unfinished business, because Lucy is following James to National City to, well, set something straight. The exact details are as yet unknown. All this will play out in the third episode of Supergirl, oddly enough the one that will feature the villain Reactron.
Lucy Lane has appeared in other previous Superman shows including The Adventures of Superman, Lois & Clark, and Smallville (where she was played by current Golden Glider on The Flash, Peyton List). This new Lucy Lane, Tatum, has appeared on the series Witches of East End and American Horror Story, but she is slightly more well-known for being the wife of Channing Tatum. So Gambit is married to Lucy Lane in real life. Let your brain reconcile that piece of trivia!
Supergirl premieres this fall every Monday on CBS.
