It seems like only yesterday Batman fans were reacting quite passionately one way or another to the news of Ben Affleck being cast as the Dark Knight. Recent rumors would make it seem, however, that some very important people are now in his corner. Affleck supposedly received a standing ovation for his performance after an early cut of Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice was screened for a small group of Warner Bro. executives, which led to some pretty big plans.
Warner Bros. insiders have rumors stirring that the future slate of DC Movies will now center around Affleck’s Dark Knight. The rumors go on to suggest that these executives were so impressed with Affleck’s performance that they’re trying to sign him on for three stand-alone Batman films; films that would serve as the cornerstone for other DC movies. One Warner bigwig reportedly went as for as to title Affleck the “definitive Batman.”
These reports are still unconfirmed and not credited, so it’s best to take them with a grain of salt. What could Affleck be doing to set him apart so strongly from all of his fellow Batman actors? Could he truly be the “definitive Batman”? Hopefully soon we’ll find out more truths to the story.
Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to hit theaters March 26, 2016.
