It seems that Arrow is adding so many people for its fourth season on a semi-regular basis, we’re going to start wondering whether there’s going to be enough room for the regular cast. If the third season of Arrow struggled with finding a way to tell a compelling story about Ra’s al Ghul and Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) struggle with his dual identity, it seems that season four will compensate by throwing so many new characters at us, we’ll be too busy trying to keep up with all the new faces to critique the actually plotting. Kidding aside, we now have two new faces to keep up with on Arrow this season, one mysterious and one obvious.
The obvious one first. According to Entertainment Tonight, Enlisted co-star Parker Young will be added to the Arrow roster as a nameless young man that will likely become the new love interest for Thea “Speedy” Queen (Willa Holland). With Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) out of the picture, the new Scarlet Archer will need someone to come home to at the end of a long night, so why not a guy that looks like Parker Young.
The more mysterious bit of casting involved Rutina Wesley. No idea or hint was given by TheWrap as to what role she’s playing, but she will be playing it for a while because she’s signed on for a multi-episode arc. Wesley is perhaps best known for playing Tara on True Blood, and hopefully she will be treated much better on several episodes of Arrow then she was on seven years of the vampire soap.
Wesley and Young will join fellow new members of the Arrow cast Echo Kellum, Alexander Calvert, Jimmy Akingbola, Jeri Ryan, Ryan Robbins, JR Bourne, and Neal McDonough. McDonough will be playing the season’s big bad Damien Darhk, Kellum will be playing the hero Mr. Terrific, and Calvert will play the villain Anarchy. TheWrap also revealed that JR Bourne will also be playing a villain, Double Down.
Arrow returns this October on the CW.
