There is perhaps no villain as mad or sadistic as The Joker. In the course of cinema (and television) the crown prince of crime has been played by great men. Cesar Romero. Jack Nicholson. Heath Ledger. Mark Hamill. Jared Leto. And now… Zach Galifianakis?!
The star of the Hangover movies and host of Between Two Ferns, is apparently in “final negotiations” to voice the Joker in the upcoming LEGO Batman film, which is a follow-up to The LEGO Movie.
Zach Galifianakis? Well, not someone I would have pegged for a Joker. No idea what to expect really. Though, he is pretty creepy and unhinged as Felix Fischoeder in Bob’s Burgers.
Galifianakis joins Will Arnett, who’s returning as the gruff voice of Batman from The Lego Movie and Michael Cera, who was recently cast as Robin.
The LEGO Movie animation supervisor Chris McKay will direct The LEGO Batman Movie, which features a script by Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter creator Seth Grahame-Smith. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed The LEGO Movie will produce the film along with Dan Lin.
The LEGO Batman Movie will swing into theaters on May 26, 2017.
