Lots of celebrities are also fans. They have their dream role, and they do sometimes get a chance to use their tremendous platform to make a case for their casting. The latest person to use social media to try and strong arm casting agents is Ronda Rousey, the MMA superstar who recently said in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) that she’d like a crack at a particular Marvel superhero. “I’d like to vie for Miss Marvel,” she wrote. She meant Captain Marvel, who was promoted from Ms. Marvel a couple of years ago, and given Rousey’s stature, presence and long blonde hair, she would definitely be perfect for the part. And it seems that some artistically minded fans agree.
With pens, paints paper and Photoshop, fans have apparently been sending Rousey their interpretations of her as Captain Marvel. Perhaps in the theory that a picture is worth a thousands words in making her case to Marvel Studios, Rousey posted several of the artistic works to her Instagram feed over the weekend. Check them out.
And then there’s this.
Since the reddit AMA I’ve received so many badass Ms. Marvel/Captain Marvel edits! There were so many cool ones I couldn’t pick just one to share – here’s 2 series of 2 Big thank you to contributing artists: @alexmurilloart (right) and Hugo Dourado (left)

Not bad. Marvel would have to be crazy not to think twice about having letting Rousey be a serious contender for the part. The one real downside is that Marvel has been a lot more focused on the acting part of finding an actor when it comes to casting these movies, and Rousey has a resume with roles where she either plays herself (Entourage) or plays someone very much like herself (Furious 7, The Expendibles 3).
That’s not to say she has a lack of acting talent, or that she couldn’t be great in the right role. And on the plus side, with a release date still three years away, Rousey has plenty of time to prove her acting chops. Perhaps in the upcoming crime drama Mile 22.
Once again, Captain Marvel will be in theaters everywhere November 2018.
