20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for director Paul McGuigan‘s (Lucky Number Slevin, Push) retelling of Mary Shelley’s classic tale of mad science and monsters, Victor Frankenstein. James McAvoy plays Victor along with Daniel Radcliffe as Igor. Now this time around Igor isn’t the hunchbacked creepy guy, in fact he is Igor Strausman, the equally brilliant scientific protegé of Frankenstein. Check out the first trailer after the jump. Here’s the synopsis:
When Dr. Victor Frankenstein and his trusted assistant Igor go too far in their noble attempts to aid humanity, Victor’s obsession turns to madness. He then unleashes his final creation – a monstrous figure that holds unimaginable terror for anyone its path.
Here’s the UK trailer, which takes a much darker tone then the US version.
It’s very interesting how the two trailer’s tones don’t exactly line up. The first is much more humorous, while the second is scary as hell. I imagine the whole thing falls somewhere in the middle. I loved what McGuian did with Lucky Number Slevin and look forward to checking out where he takes McAvoy and Radcliffe in this horror/comedy/thriller.
Is it just me or could you also see James McAvoy at the closed dressing room door singing to Daniel Radcliffe:
Do you want to build a monster…
Victor Frankenstein hits theater screens November 25th, 2015.
