The world and characters that Garth Ennis created in his Preacher comic run is so out-there crazy fun, it sounds like an almost impossible task to bring some of these personalities to life. Take for example, Arseface. After a botched attempted suicide, a shotgun blast leaves Arseface’s face disfigured and looking, well… rather like a butt hole. Thanks to a Facebook post by Seth Rogen, we’re able to have our first sneak peek at Ian Colletti as Arseface– and the character translates extremely well!
Another memorable (and extremely important) member of the Preacher posse is the enigmatic, alcoholic vampire Cassidy, played by Joe Gilgun. This on-set snap shows another fully translatable, instantly recognizable character. Kudos to Rogen and Evan Goldberg; the driving forces behind the small-screen adaptation!
For those that are unfamiliar with the comic series, Preacher follows disgraced ex-preacher Jesse Custer on his quest to find God, who is mysteriously MIA. Along for the ride with him are his girlfriend Tulip, and aforementioned best friend Cassidy.
So far things are looking very promising. Preacher is one of the most wonderfully wicked works ever, so capturing all of that crazy depravity will be quite the task. We’ll have to wait until 2016 to see if Rogen, Goldberg, and AMC can make it work!
