I guess the shooting of X-Men: Apocalypse are now days of future past. Huh? Okay, so bad puns aside, yes, it seems that shooting on the sixth X-Men movie has officially concluded, and, as per modern tradition, it was announced on social media, specifically director Bryan Singer‘s Instagram account. The final [production] glimpse proves to be just as mysterious and vexing as the previous set pictures, featuring a massive practical set. It looks like the last day of shooting was no simple scene either, but again we ask the question: What is going on? Where are they? Who’s involved? And what does Apocalypse mean for the X-Men series going forward?

But first, let’s share the Instagram.

That’s s wrap on main unit. But still more to shoot over the next few weeks with second unit. But now…the wrap party! #xmen #xmenapocalypse

Red Bull? No thanks, I’d rather drink turpentine.

Now as to that first picture. The darkness of the set kind of makes it look like another temple, but upon further inspection it seems more like the X-Mansion. And look at those monitors. Is that Rose Byrne‘s Moira MacTaggert on the stairs? You’ll recall that when she was last in the company of the X-Men in First Class, her memory of the affair was wiped by Professor X (James McAvoy). So what might bring her back to the X-Mansion, and what does she remember? I trust we will find out more about that in the weeks and months to come.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be in theaters everywhere next summer.
