I’m not one of those people that loses my mind over the desgin aethetic that Michael Bay brought to his series of four (so far) Transformers movies, but as someone that grew up playing with the original toys and watching the Generation One cartoon, it’s nice to see those characters look how they’re supposed to look again. To what do I refer? The upcoming game Transformers: Devastation, which features several playable characters who all look like how you remember them if you were born before the year 1990, meaning no Bay-formers here. But what does the game itself look like? Are you one of those weirdos that likes to know what your buying when it comes to your gaming entertainment? Well behold, it’s you first look at the gameplay for the new Transformers game.
From PlatinumGames and Hasbro, Devastation allows you to play one of five popular Autobot characters: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock. The plot? The Decepticons are trying to harness plasma energy to turn Earth into a new robot utopia, in the process making themselves more powereful than ever. Naturally, it is up to the Autobots to stop their evil plan and save us lowly humans.

Now that looks like Transformers (again, not to hold a grudge). The gameplay looks like a lot of fun, very fast with a lot of different fighting options. I’m by no means an expert on Trasnformers video games, I can’t even name the last one that was released, but this is something I would definitely look into buying. Speaking of which…
Transformers: Devastation goes on sale October 6 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3 platforms.
